  1. Florida State has a better record than Florida, better RPI, better KenPom, plays in a better conference, and most notable, clobbered the Gators head-to-head in Gainesville by 17 points. And yet you have Florida a 5 and Florida State a 9? That doesn't make any sense.

  2. KenPom is one of the metrics considered by the selection committee, but RPI is much more important to them. Unfortunately for Florida State they have a dysmal Non-conference SOS of 298 while Florida has a very good Non-conference SOS of 38. Florida State has a cumulative SOS of 75 while Florida has a cumulative SOS of 33. The Gators are also 5-2 against Quadrant 1 while Florida State is 4-4. Conference affiliation is irrelevant in bracketing teams. Head-to-head is a minor factor and margin of victory is not even considered. Given all the criteria listed that is why Florida is projected as a 5 seed while Florida State is a 9.
